For the past 5 months I’ve been looking at integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into WordPress websites. Whilst I haven’t used AI on this site, I have tried quite a few different AI tools both for WordPress websites and plugin development.
I’ve documented my findings in a website – wp-secrets.co.uk – where I’ve classified several WordPress plugins that use AI; both for their functionality and cost.
I’ve been having fun with image generation as well. For wp-secrets I didn’t really care what image the AI tool generated. But I’ve been having difficulty getting it to generate the image I’ve tried to describe.
Here’s an image I created by hand 14 years ago. I’d taken several snaps of the same boat and merged them all together to represent bobbing wide.
And here’s a selection of the images that AI generated in response to my prompts to attempt to reproduce the above image. These were all generated by Image Creator from Designer, using DALL E 3
The prompts that I’d used in an attempt to generate the correct image were:

As you can see, AI has failed to follow the instructions
- wrong number of boats in most cases
- ignored what to omit
- not pointing the way I want them

Conclusion
AI generated images are fun to generate so long as you’re not that bothered about what it actually produces. On another of my websites ( seriouslybonkers.com ) I’ve started building a catalogue of images which I’ve categorised as Stupidly Brilliant.
