Bobbing Wide’s oik plugins now support WordPress 5.5 without jQuery Migrate. Updated versions are being delivered from wordpress.org and oik-plugins.com
We have updated a number of plugins that use jQuery, confirming they work in WordPress 5.5(.1). We’ve also tested them with jQuery v3.5.1, which is expected to be delivered as part of WordPress 5.6, in December 2020.
On 11th August 2020 WordPress 5.5 “Eckstine” was released. This version didn’t ship the jQuery Migrate code that enabled old jQuery to run without changes.
For this, and other reasons, quite a lot of sites didn’t work properly until:
- either the jQuery Migrate code was reinstated
- or the plugins or themes that used old jQuery were updated
- or WordPress 5.5.1 was released.
